Having lived in eight countries, and travelled to many more, I like to get to know a place well.
Working with me means working with an experienced and flexible researcher and travel content writer. I am comfortable working in multiple genres: blog posts, listicles, reviews and long-form research articles. I also have a PhD in Interdisciplinary Humanities, from the Australian National University, which I researched in India. A full list of my publications can be found here.
Content Marketing/Travel Content Writer
Does your travel-related business require well-written, readable articles tailored to your needs that don’t feel like sales copy? Articles that your target customers will actually want to read? That they don’t feel they are being sold something while reading? I can do that.
I provide well-researched articles that draw on my own extensive travel experience. My travel content comprises informative articles that bring value to your site and information to your reader/customer.
See a few of my previous content marketing articles below. My current and past clients include Kimkim, World Nomads, GoOverseas, Royal Mountain Travel, Inside Himalayas, UpEverest and Landmark Education.
- Tamang Heritage Trail, on Kimkim.com
- 9 Reasons to Travel to Lower Mustang this Season, on Inside Himalayas
- Top National Parks for Adventure Travelers in Nepal, on World Nomads
Does your travel-related business need sharp website copy? New brochures? Rewritten, revised or new tour itineraries? As a travel content writer I can rewrite and update existing text, or create new copy from scratch.
Need someone to check that your website or other documents are perfect? I do that.
I have more than three years’ experience working with one of Australia’s top academic editing companies, Elite Editing. Such work requires an extremely high standard of grammar knowledge. I also have years of editing experience with journalistic, academic and web publications, including Culture Trip, Himal Southasian, Inside Himalayas and Pink Pangea.
With extensive experience working with writers for whom English is a second language (ESL), I am especially attuned to catching the kinds of errors that such writers make. I have worked with Nepal-based travel companies, as well as individuals from numerous countries and linguistic backgrounds.
My Travel Writing Partnerships
Nepal, October-November 2015
I was a participant of the ‘Adventure Week Rebound Nepal‘ trip, which was run by the Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA) and the Great Himalaya Trails. I was one of 20 journalists, photographers and tourism providers invited to Nepal to see for ourselves that after the earthquakes of 2015, Nepal is ready for tourism again.
I represented the Matador Network and produced a number of articles from this trip, which can be found on my publications page.
Montreal, Canada, May 2015
In May 2015, I worked with Pink Pangea and Homestay.com in Montreal, Canada. I produced one article for the Pink Pangea site, and one for this website. Here’s an extract from the article for Pink Pangea. The rest can be found here.
Participating in a ‘homestay’ through Homestay.com, is a great alternative for the solo, budget and safety-conscious female traveller, especially one who is more interested in slow travel with authentic experiences than party hostels. Through Homestay, I booked to stay with Roger in a two-bedroom apartment in Montreal’s Gay Village. The neighbourhood is an ideal base from which to explore Montreal over four days.
